Video & Audio Transfers

Ascent video specializes in digital transfers of film, video and audio; bringing new life to family histories. Every transfer is given the "white glove" treatment. Media is stored in a dust free environment. Cleaning and repairs are made using the safest materials available. Computer analysis determines noise and damage levels with automated correction removing as many errors as possible, then each transfer is manually scanned by a trained technician for final correction.

Methods of transfer done by amateurs and many professionals utilize methods that result in dark, flickering films, keystone images, and unrealistic speeds. Ascent Video utilizes a digital re-mastering process called Telecine that makes your film “flicker free.” Plus, Ascent Video uses patented color and lighting solutions make use of the same type of equipment that Hollywood uses--giving your film and video real “star” treatment. Ascent Video's audio transfers of LPs, 78s, reel-to-reel and cassette tapes can remove noise often inherent in older recordings.

The average shelf life of videotape is between 7-15 years. After that, the magnetized materials bound to the tape begin to flake off, causing the picture to deteriorate. Colors begin to bleed, snow and other picture anomalies begin to appear, and the sound begins to distort. The same can be said of film, but for different reasons. Certain color film stocks utilized in the 1950’s through the 1970’s were unstable over time causing the color to be washed out or becoming predominately red or blue. That’s why now, more than ever, when a digital process is available that could preserve your family’s history for up to 100 years you owe it to yourself to take advantage of our transfer services.
